When is the Fremont Fair?

Saturday, June 19, and Sunday, June 20, 2010 to coincide with the Summer Solstice.

What are the hours of the Fair?

Vendor booths and sanctioned activities take place:

Saturday, June 19th 10:00am-8:00pm

Sunday, June 20th 11:00am-6:00pm

Many festivities happen at restaurants and bars after the Fremont Fair closes.

When is the Fremont Solstice Parade?

Saturday, June 19, 2010 at noon.

Where is the Fremont Fair?

The Fremont Fair is located in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Activities primarily take place west of Fremont Ave North on N 35th Street and North 34th Street/Canal Street.

The Fremont Solstice Parade that happens in conjunction with the Fair, begins at the intersection of N 36th Street and Leary Way, and winds through downtown Fremont, ending at Gasworks park.

How do I get to Fremont?

If traveling from afar, Fremont is a neighborhood within Seattle, located directly north of downtown. Sea-Tac is the nearest airport. Visit our Where to Stay Page for Hotel Information.

For those in the area, we suggest public transport, walking or bicycling as the most convenient mode of transportation to access the Fremont Fair.

Where can I park?

Parking is very limited in Fremont and there is no official Fremont Fair parking area. We strongly suggest:

Bus

Direct Metro bus routes to downtown Fremont are 26, 28, 30 and 31. Plan your trip today!

Bike

Fremont is conveniently located on the popular Burke Gilman Trail. Bike Corrals are located along the park at 1st Ave NW and Canal Street.

If you must drive…

Please be courteous of Fremont residents, and do not park in front of driveways, fire hydrants or crosswalks. Parking enforcement is on full patrol during the Fair and will readily ticket and tow vehicles.

How much does the Fremont Fair Cost?

It is brought to you FREE by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce! However, we encourage donations to the Fremont Fair via tipping at the beer garden or making contributions at the information booths. Donations will directly benefit Solid Ground, a poverty-focused, non-profit, who produced the Fremont Fair for many years, as well as the Chamber’s grant program. Grant recipients include non-profit organizations in the Fremont area.

Do I need ID for the Beer Gardens?

The Washington State Liquor Control Board requires everyone entering the Beer Garden to present valid ID.

The Washington State Liquor Control Board states that any of the following is acceptable:

  • a driver’s license with a photo from any state
  • a current passport
  • a DMV identification card*
  • a military card*

*The DMV identification card and the military card must have a picture of the person, the person’s name, address, date of birth, a physical description and the signature of the person.

Children are not allowed in the Beer Garden. To enter the Beer Garden you must be at least 21 years of age with valid ID.

What else is there to do in Fremont?

Where are the bathrooms located?

Portable restrooms are conveniently located throughout the festival at:

  • N 34th St and Phinney Ave N
  • 1st Ave NW and N 35th Street
  • N 35th street by the big purple slide
  • Evanston Ave N

Please do not use retail or restaurant restrooms unless you are a paying customer; the crowds are just too large to accommodate this.

What should I wear to the Fremont Fair?

Anything goes! The Fair is a celebration of the Fremont community, which is known for its free spirit and eclectic nature – in fact, the neighborhood motto is “delibertas quirkas,” the freedom to be peculiar. Many Fair guests dress up in whimsical costumes, fairy wings, body paint, and artistic get-ups, while others simply wear casual everyday clothes. You make the call.

What is the etiquette with body paint?

We won’t deny it. The Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade are partially famous for body-painted bicyclists and revelers who magically appear every year and make this event truly one of a kind.

If you are one of the body painted participants, PLEASE NOTE:

  • The Fremont restaurants and bars greatly appreciate if you can carry a towel with you to place on the chair/booth while you dine and drink. If you don’t, they are left scrubbing body paint from booths for weeks to come, which is a mess and can permanently damage décor. They love to have you in their establishments, but please be respectful of their furnishings if you have paint that may rub off.
  • Remember that many families do attend the Fair, with small children in tow. While Fair-goers typically wholly embrace the free spirit of the event, when planning your costume/paint scheme, please be considerate of a child’s eye level in conjunction with potential painted body parts that may be exposed. Rude and obscene behavior at the Fremont Fair will not be tolerated and individuals will be asked to leave.
  • If you are not on a bike you need to cover it up.

Is the Fremont Fair appropriate for children?

The Fremont Fair welcomes family members of all ages. In fact, there are special activities just for kids and families.

However, Fair goers should be aware this is a very eclectic and free-spirited event. Some Fair guests appear in full or partial body paint, and a variety of colorful costumes – this is typically limited to Saturday’s festivities. Father’s Day is on Sunday and we hope you join us at the Fremont Fair for your Father’s Day Festivities.

If families have concerns, we encourage them to further research the event to decide if it is right for them, or contact the Chamber for more information.

What is there for kids to do at the Fremont Fair?

In addition to general people watching, browsing and taking in the sights with the family, there are special events just for the kids, including:

  • The Fremont Abbey Arts Kids Area located on 35th Street will have a full program of children’s activities.
  • Big! Purple! Slide! Located right next to the Fremont Arts Abbey Kids Area. Guaranteed fun.
  • Plus, face painters, ice cream and other cool kids’ stuff all throughout the event!

Where do I go if I have lost something at the Fair?

Lost & Found is at the information booth at Phinney Ave N and N 35th Street. After the event, email info@fremontfair.org to inquire about lost items. All found items not claimed within two weeks are donated to Goodwill.

Where is the first aid station?

The first aid station is at Phinney Ave N and N 35th Street. It is equipped to treat minor injuries.

Is there an ATM at the Fair?

Of course!  Look for a red tent and a big ATM Banner. The ATM’s are located throughout the Fair at:

  • N 34th Street between Evanston Ave N and Phinney Ave N
  • N 34th Street  & Phinney Ave N
  • N 35th Street by the Waterfront Beer Garden
  • N 35th Street and Phinney Ave N
  • N 34th Street and Evanston (Frontier Bank ATM)

Are dogs allowed at the Fremont Fair?

Please note that on Saturday after the Parade the Fremont Fair is brimming with excited fair-goers. Please make sure your dogs are well mannered and on a leash. It may be best to carry small dogs in the crowds.

Where can I find maps and programs at the Fremont Fair?

  • Phinney Ave N and N 35th Street
  • Evanston Ave N and N 34th Street

I am a musician and I want to Busk, does the Fremont Fair allow that?

Yes! We love buskers and the energy and creativity they bring to the Fremont Fair.

General rules for busking:

  1. Check in as you enter the Fair at the Waterfront Stage.
  2. Be fun and festive, but not too loud, please be aware of vendors and activities around you.
  3. We want you to enjoy and see the Fair yourselves, so we ask buskers to rotate to a new location about every 45 minutes.
  4. Be respectful of other buskers, if you have been playing for a while and see others waiting for a location please allow them a chance to busk
  5. Do not set up next to someone who is already playing.
  6. If there is a conflict, go get an event staff person to help resolve the issue.

Is there festival merchandise for sale?

Yes! Fremont’s own Desteenation Shirt Company will be selling the 2010 Fremont Fair commemorative merchandise. Their booth is located at N 35th Street and Phinney Ave N.
