2014 General Release

For Immediate Release

Join the Center of the Universe for it’s annual event of full self-expression and the inaugural Solstice Concert Series

(Seattle, WA) March 20, 2014 – The 43rd Annual Fremont Fair, taking place June 20-22, 2014, symbolizes the start of the Seattle summer.  In 2014, the Fremont Fair and iconic Solstice Parade welcome a third tradition, an all-ages, ticketed Solstice Concert Series  – all culminating in a complete weekend celebration of the Fremont neighborhood’s “delibertas quirkas” (freedom to be peculiar) culture.

Solstice Concert Series – Friday & Saturday 5pm:
The Solstice Concert Series is honoring the Fremont Fair’s deep musical roots and elevating them to a new level. The inaugural all ages, ticketed music show is taking advantage of the longest day of the year and planning an evening lineup sure to please the picky Seattle music palate. Seattle’s own Blue Scholars and indie band, Built to Spill will be headlining the Redhook Main Stage. The entire music lineup and ticket pricing is available here.

Solstice Parade – Saturday 3pm:

The Solstice Parade celebrates the free-spirited community of Fremont. Whimsical displays of mobile art, including marching ensembles and creative floats, are sure to delight. Pre-parade, guests can frolic through the fair, perusing the craft market and gorging on fair food. Post-parade, they can keep the longest day of the year going by attending the evening concert series at 5pm.

Fremont Fair – Saturday & Sunday:

The three city blocks of the Fremont Fair feature a Market of over 300+ free-spirited vendors that can only be found in the Center of the Universe! Numerous forms of art activities including Sunday’s Dog Parade and Yoga for the Solstice, an Art Car Blowout, the Abbey Art’s kids area, two beer gardens, people watching, and an additional stage for live music also line the streets of Fremont.

Funds raised at the Fremont Fair benefit local arts and cultures non-profits, including the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.

The Center of the Universe is welcoming an all-ages, ticketed Concert Series

Seattle, WA) March 6, 2014 – The 43rd Annual Fremont Fair and the iconic Solstice Parade are welcoming a new tradition, an all-ages, ticketed Solstice Concert Series to complete the weekend’s celebration of the Fremont neighborhood’s “delibertas quirkas” (freedom to be peculiar) culture.

Music has always been an important aspect of the Fremont Fair identity. Five years ago when Bold Hat Productions, producers of Fremont Oktoberfest, became the stewards of the Fair they saw a need to rock the Fair for the entire day. It is the longest one of course, but the event was closing at 8pm.

Knowing this new tradition had to be as awesome as the Fair, Bold Hat partnered with fellow legacy event producers One Reel, producers of Bumbershoot, to program the music lineup for the Solstice Concert Series. When the entire lineup is released on Equinox, you will be blown away

Music will be programed on both Friday and Saturday from 5:30 pm to midnight. Pricing is set at $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

We want to invite you to have a conversation to get more details about the back-story and evolution of the Solstice Concert Series. We will reach out to you again or please contact Phil Megenhardt at (206) 295-1891 or to set up a conversation.
